The first major print project as lead designer in the Nebraska Athletic Department, I wanted to get away from “normal” with the 2015-16 Men’s Basketball Schedule Poster.  Generally, the Athletic Schedule Posters were 18″ x 24″ printed on a standard paper in four-color with flood gloss coating.

I opted to go with a panoramic size, featuring the faces of the team.  Not only did I opt for a one-color piece, but added some shine by using a metallic ink on a matte, bamboo paper with no flood coating at all.

When designing the poster, I had to really focus on the details, curves and levels of the one color.  Playing with some halftone bitmapping, I was able to get accurate shading of each player without degrading the quality of the print and keeping the shimmer of the ink.
