Paint the Nation Red

Paint the Nation Red

With a new coaching staff came a new recruiting philosophy – complete transparency.

With precious few weeks to close on the 2015 signing class, the new coaches spent 45 of their first 75 days with the Huskers going door-to-door, meeting with recruits and their families.  Below are a select few images that were created to let fans and prospects know exactly where their new coaches might be each day.

After several days, it seemed like we should begin to actually paint the nation red.  Each city the coaches visited received a red paint splotch, of some kind or another.  By the end of signing day, the goal was to show how wide-spread the reach of our recruiting truly stretches.

The last day of recruiting, it was time for the coaches to come back to Lincoln.  This map shows where the coaches were the previous day (as we did not post a map that day) as they headed back to The Good Life State.

How successful was the extra transparency of the final push before National Signing Day? Successful enough that others began mimicking the campaign.  Pitt Football even got a nice ESPN blog about Pat Narduzzi stepping up Pitt’s social media presence.

The coaches can’t be the only people having fun.  On a trip to Fayetteville during the recruiting time-frame, I too decided to let Husker Nation know exactly where to find Coach Wenstrand.
